• Shampoo and condition hair • Prepare for hair services • Blow dry hair • Develop effective working relationships • Assist with hair colouring & lightening services • Plait and twist hair using basic techniques • Assist with perming services

Progression

Level 2 Hairdressing or gain employment as a Salon Assistant or related work in a salon.

Assessment

The course is predominantly practical but will contain some theory sessions, short exams and assignments to support the knowledge required. Teachers will use observation of practical tasks and you will also assemble a portfolio of evidence along your journey.

Entry Requirements

3 GCSEs at grade 2-3 or a functional skills level 1 in English. It would also be advantageous to have a keen interest in hair and beauty or have had previous salon experience.
