The course modules for example are:• Principles of working in health, social care and childcare• Health and safety in practice• Working in a person-centred way• SafeguardingExamples of the content that you will cover in these modules and other are topics such as how to safeguard vulnerable adults, the health and safety of the environments and what responsibilities you will have in relation to your own role when working in health and social care environments such as a residential home, day Centre for older people and dementia care units as well as many more diverse environments that provides holistic care for adults. You will also learn about the legislation and guidance supporting health and social care, so that they can ensure the people they are working with are not only able to access all the care and support they are entitled to but are also able to protect themselves from any harm or abuse whilst at work.
Progression
On completion of the course, you have the opportunity to progress on to an Access to HE courses such as health professions/nursing, midwifery or social work and primary Education. This course also provides a strong base for progression to apprenticeships or work.Assessment
Each module will have an assignment that will clearly show the tasks and the structure/ method you will need to produce to meet the specific criteria. Assessment dates will allow the allocation for assignments to be submitted in a timescaleYou will be assessed by a range of practical activities such as presentation delivery and role play as well as timed assessments and written assignment work where leaflets, reports or information booklets will be included.You will have 2 exams for 2 modules which you will have an opportunity to sit in January and if needed a resit in June.
Entry Requirements
Students must show aptitude in English, typically with a GCSE pass at grade 4.Level 2 equivalents in English may be accepted on a case-by-case basis.
