Worsley College are delighted to broaden their offering and announce that there will be a Level 3 Sport and Physical Activity Course starting in September.   The Sports and Leisure Industry is one of the world’s fastest growing industries and here at Worsley College, you will be encouraged to explore the industry and discover all that it has to offer.   Our highly experienced and inspirational teaching staff will provide you with opportunities to develop your knowledge within the sport and leisure sector, including work experience in an area of interest and the development of strong employability skills that will help you pursue your dreams and achieve your future aspirations.  

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

  If you decide to study the Sport and Physical Activity course, the pathway you that will take will ensure that you gain vast knowledge and experience in a wide variety of careers within the sport and Leisure industry.   Over a two-year period you will study 3 mandatory units:
  • Exercise, health and lifestyle
  • Preparing for a career in sport and physical activity
  • Work experience in sport
  Alongside these units, you will also study 15 supplementary units, some of which are:
  • Fitness training and testing
  • Sports nutrition
  • Psychology for sports performance
  • Sport injuries
  • Sport and exercise massage
  • Applied strength and conditioning
 

HOW ARE THE COURSES ASSESSED?

Each unit is internally assessed through a series of written, practical, project based and experience-based tasks. This ensures that this qualification rewards learners with a suitable grade to reflect their achievement across all units. Each unit of this qualification is graded using a structure of Not Yet Achieved, Pass, Merit and Distinction. These are then collated to an overall grade.  

WHAT ENRICHMENT WILL THERE BE?

  • Visits to local sport and leisure attractions and clubs within the local area
  • Participation in cross college competitions
  • Gaining work experience in your area of interest
 

WHAT COULD I DO NEXT?
