New Higher Education courses for 2019 entry

The University Centre at Salford City College has announced a range of new courses for 2019 entry, now open for applications. Animal Management The University Centre has now introduced BSc Animal Management top-up and the HNC/D in Animal Management: Veterinary Practice Management. The new courses will run at Eccles Sixth Form College's state-of-the-art animal centre which is home to more than 250 different animal species including both domestic and exotic animals. The BSc is perfect for anyone who has already completed the HND with the University Centre or a Foundation Degree or level 5 qualification in an animal related subject, elsewhere. Fashion and Textiles For those with a passion for fashion, an eye for style and a taste for the latest trends, the all-new HNC/D in Fashion and Textiles at the University Centre at Salford City College is the perfect course. Students will learn in creative art and design facilities at partner college, Pendleton Sixth Form College. The location of both the college and the University Centre, minutes away from Manchester City Centre and MediaCityUK, will place students in a competitive fashion market, with headquarters of leading brands located here. From JD Sport to Missguided, Boohoo, In the Style and N Brown, the brand behind Simply Be and Jacamo. Hospitality Management If you are interested in pursuing a career in the fast-paced and innovative hospitality and catering industry, the University Centre at Salford City College is now running HNC/D Hospitality Management, in partnership with The Glass House at Worsley. Worsley College, where The Glass House is located, offers unique opportunities and has the facilities you’ll need to cook-up your perfect career. The qualification is ideal for anyone who might have studied a hospitality related course at college and that are now looking to advance their skills, or anyone looking get a foothold into the industry. Greater Manchester is renowned for its hospitality excellence and has some of the finest restaurants and public houses in the country, making it the perfect place to study gastronomy. The University Centre makes good use of all that is on their doorstep and strong industry links mean they can accommodate exceptional work experience opportunities, and visits to a range of world-class catering establishments, restaurants, and hotels. Media The new BA Media top-up is ideal for anyone who has already completed a level 5 qualification (HND/Foundation Degree) in a media-related subject or who have experience working within the media industry and who are now looking to attain a Degree in the subject to progress in their career. The University Centre have also added HNC/D Creative Media Production (Journalism Pathway) to their course listings for 2019 entry. Perfect for anyone looking to embark upon a career in journalism. Students who study at the University Centre will be located in the media hub of the country, making Salford the perfect place to study the subject. The centre have forged strong relations with companies within MediaCityUK, taking advantage of their desirable location. Past students have gone on to work at the BBC, ITV, Capital FM and Unity Radio as a result. Media Make-up The University Centre are renowned for their incredible media make-up courses. Their courses are unique and can only be studied at a handful of institutions across the country. The all-new BA Media Make-Up Artistry top-up is perfect for anyone wanting to turn their level 5 qualification into a full Degree. Working in the police can be physically demanding and a challenge, but is potentially one of the most fulfilling career paths to choose. Whether an individual would like to become a police officer, work in counter-terrorism or crime prevention, a higher-level qualification can take them in many directions. Students will be based at Eccles Sixth Form College, which has its own Centre of Excellence for Sports and Public Services. Travel and Tourism The HNC/D in International Travel and Tourism is ideal for those who have already attained a level 3 qualification in the subject and are hoping to advance their skills. The travel and tourism industry is one of the world’s largest sectors, accounting for 10.4% of global GDP and attributing to 313 million jobs worldwide. In the UK, the industry is growing rapidly and according to Visit Britain is estimated to be worth over £257 billion by 2025, accounting for around 10% of UK GDP and supporting almost 3.8 million jobs.
