This year at Worlsey College we are celebrating the amazing achievements of a collection of students that consistently put in hard work and that have excelled inside and outside of the College.

Jacob Adeyemi is one of our Professional Cookery students and is just coming to the end of his Level 3 Diploma. Jacob shared with us his Made It Moment below, a special achievement that he is particularly proud of. The young chef has performed at the highest quality throughout his time with us at Worsley and we are excited to see what he goes on to next. Recently we got the chance to sit down with Jacob and hear about his thoughts on his time at Worlsey College:

What first made you want to come to Worsley College?

 “I came to see Worsley [College] at an open day. The reason I wanted to come to Worsley, was when I realised that I could go somewhere with both the culinary teaching and a restaurant attached, I found that idea very exciting.”

Once you got your place at Worsley College and over your years here what support did you received?

“Tina [Christina Bowker – Commercial Food and Beverage Coordinator] and all the staff have helped me so much, in practicing for competitions and encouraging me to do my best”

What was your made it moment, an experience at college that you are particularly proud of?

“My made it moment was when I competed in a competition with the college which included making cocktails for the guests.”

Jacob went on to say;

 “I never thought that I would be able to take part in a competition, or even considered it was possible, I have always been one to keep myself to myself, but I have been able to focus on my skills at Worsley and improve”

What are you plans now you are coming to the end of the Professional Cookery course?

“After I have finished this course, I want to come back here to do the patisserie and even further after that, hopefully at some point I will be running my own restaurant.”

What about your plans for the future, do you have any dreams that you want to achieve?

 “The dream really is to open my own restaurant someday.”

What sort of restaurant would you like to open and have you got an idea of how you want to achieve this goal?

“With my dad being Nigerian, my dad has suggested opening up a British/ Nigerian restaurant.”

 “The staff at Worsley have helped me work out what opportunities I can take to do this.”

It was a pleasure to meet with Jacob and talk through his time with us and what he plans to do next. We are so excited he is staying on with us to undertake the Patisserie course next year again showing his commitment to learning and pushing himself to be the best he can be. Jacob’s journey is one we will be keeping a close eye on and we here at Worlsey College are thrilled to see the sensational things he will do.
